Steel stairs with expanded metal treads going down into a greenhouse

Mobile welding in Portland, OR.

I'm based in McMinnville, and Portland is about an hour away, depending on the part of town. Repairs get done off the truck where the metal sits. Stairs, rails and gates get built in my shop and brought up to install.

The drive to Portland

Portland is the north end of the area I cover. Plan on about an hour of drive time out of the shop on Bunn Road, a bit more in traffic. We go over the job and the trip by phone before I head out, so the day is planned around your work.

One Portland job was in North Portland. A customer wanted steel stairs down into his underground greenhouse. I came up to quote it and raised a few concerns about the design. He changed the plans, I came back out to measure again, then built the stairs and set them in.

Repairs there work like anywhere else. Send a photo of what broke, and I'll tell you if it's a truck job or a shop job.

I recently found Neal on Craigslist and thought I’d try my luck. He offered me a free quote in North Portland and I later found out he commutes from the McMinnville area. That’s nuts. I showed Neal my structure and posed to him my ideas. He brought up some concerns and let me tell you I’m happy he did. I ended up changing the designs and I’m better off for it. Because I changed the plans Neal had to come out a 2nd time to prepare his materials and shop time accordingly. When I was finally ready after weeks of delays on my part, Neal came back out and absolutely slayed the gig. The custom stairs he built me to enter my custom underground greenhouse are exactly what I had in mind and they not only look incredible they feel incredible too. What too, given the dingbat stuff with delays and inexperience on my side he could have easily tacked more money onto his original bid, but when work was finished and we said our goodbyes he didn’t change the bid and I was able to stay on budget. Lastly and perhaps most importantly, Neal didn’t just show up when he said he would, he showed up with a positive and respectful attitude. The man exudes cheerfulness. I feel lucky to have found him, and all my future projects will leave me wondering how I might incorporate Neal again. Good guy, awesome work. Super fair prices. 10 out of 10 absolutely.

Neal was a life saver! He traveled two hours to reach me to do a truck camper repair while we were on a road trip. He’s very skilled and was able to do a custom build on the spot. I’d give him ten stars if I could. Highly recommend
